BEFORE USING SOMA:

Inform your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions including kidney disorders, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding.

DIRECTIONS FOR TAKING SOMA:

Follow the directions for using Soma provided by your doctor. Soma may be taken with food if it upsets your stomach. Store this medicine at room temperature, away from heat and light. If you miss a dose of Soma, take it as soon as possible. If you do not remember until later, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

SOMA CAUTIONS :

Soma may cause drowsiness or dizziness. If dizziness occurs, sit up or stand slowly. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to this medicine. Soma will add to the effects of alcohol and other depressants. Ask your pharmacist if you have questions about which medicines are depressants.

FOR WOMEN: If you plan on becoming pregnant, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. SOMA IS EXCRETED IN BREAST MILK. Do not breast feed while taking this medicine.

Carisoprodol is not approved for use in children younger than 12 years of age.

Soma alone will not heal your muscles. You need to follow the program of physical therapy, rest, or exercise that your doctor prescribes. Do not attempt any more physical activity than your doctor recommends, even though Soma temporarily makes it seem feasible.

If you are sensitive to or have ever had an allergic reaction to Soma or drugs of this type, such as meprobamate (Miltown), you should not take this medication. Make sure your doctor is aware of any drug reactions you have experienced.

Unless you are directed to do so by your doctor, do not take this medication if you have porphyria (an inherited blood disorder).

Take this drug cautiously if you have any kidney or liver problems.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTSOF SOMA:

SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, or headache. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor.

Check with your doctor as soon as possible if you experience rash or itching. If you notice any unusual effects, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.

Many cough-and-cold products contain antihistamines which can cause drowsiness. Check labels carefully and consult your pharmacist if you have any questions. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
